Now that’s a huge statement and I wonder whether people actually know what lauric acids are? So here goes our explanation of what they are. They are medium chain fatty acids and are one of the few fats that do not circulate in the bloodstream like other fats but goes straight to the liver where it is converted into energy.

Many researchers have reported that coconut oil supports balanced cholesterol (Blackburn et al 1988, Ahrens and colleagues, 1957). In 1981, Prior et al. showed that islanders with a diet high in coconut oil showed no harmful health effects.

The extraction process is no longer the bleached, refined and weeks long extraction form the dried copra meat using chemicals. Pure virgin oil from coconuts is extracted by a simple method called direct expelling technology (DME). DME supports the rural Samoan villages to keep their production, income and industry local. The opportunities for value add products has allowed the villagers to generate a wider income base from the raw product, increasing employment for their youth and creating an exportable product.
